Who are we?
We are engineering students and faculty from Olin College of Engineering, a 350 undergraduate college in the Greater Boston area, working towards changing the world...several robots at a time.
Professor David Barrett began the lab in 2006 with the purpose of having undergraduate engineers work on developing useful mobile robots. The lab has a long history of vehicles that were successfully converted into robots including collaboration with the MIT DARPA Robotic Car and the RobotX teams, as well as several lab-based projects. We are actively working and contributing to the growing body of research and application around intelligent ground, air, and sea vehicles. Our alumni have gone on to be graduate students at institutions like Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and have jumped into industry as Automation Leads and Roboticists. The lab is fortunate to have these alumni in addition to the various professional advisors which mentor us: Lesley Yu, Garland O'Connell, Professor Andrew Bennett, and Professor David Barrett.

What are we up to?
When not in classes or participating in other extracurricular activities, we are in the lab researching robotic applications in human-robot interaction, environmental sampling, and long-term navigation. To learn more, we recommend visiting Projects or Publications.
Why?This lab is dedicated to educating and mentoring our researchers, in addition to adding to the body of research in intelligent vehicles. Robot intelligence, while seemingly simple, is an extremely complicated field in which the payoff for development is high. Intelligent vehicles is a particular area which industrial, military, and academic institutions have found to be of critical concern. We hope to develop robots with best-practice policies and new methods, keeping in mind clearly defined purposes and markets from the outset.
Who are you?We would love to connect with you and hear your reasons for checking out our lab, whether or not you have a project to propose, if you would like to learn more about our projects, have feedback for this site...you name it! You can contact us at:
