RoboTuna is one of the longest standing projects at Olin College. The robot - a small vehicle that is built and powered using a biomimetic design, is being used as a research platform for determining the utility of biology-inspired marine propulsion. An underwater vehicle, the RoboTuna will help engineers and scientists determine and study the strategy fish use to propel themselves through the water. Additionally, RoboTuna is being prepared for a long-term and long-range mission to autonomously navigate across the Atlantic Ocean. Originally designed for the Office of Naval Research, the tuna has experienced several iterations throughout the course of 5+ academic terms.
